We are educators with experience teaching grades K-8 in Michigan, New York City, and Delhi, India in public, charter, private, and international schools. When we moved to online learning at the beginning of the pandemic, we noticed that our colleagues needed support in the transition to online teaching. Our colleagues were doing engaging, important, and powerful work in the classroom and struggled to adapt their teaching online. Our experience with various online platforms and the technology we already incorporated into our daily instruction gave us the skills to support our colleagues in transitioning. Without common training for all teachers in our school, it was clear that some grade-levels or departments transitioned more easily than others, and it impacted our students' experiences.
We strive to make training in online platforms and techniques widely available to teachers because we don't want our students to miss out on the ingenuity of teachers just because of a technological barrier.
